Mounted Patrol
From MatureAsskickers Wiki
The Mounted Patrol is a pseudo-guild intended to counter ganking of significantly-lower-level characters by providing a high level presence in the area to which low level characters are questing.
The first step is to join the MP chat channel by typing "/join mountedpatrol" in the game. We recommend that you set the color of this channel to make it stand out in your chat window.
Instructions for Changing Chat Channel Colors
HOW IT WORKS:
If you're questing and high-level members of the opposition faction harrass you, report the number, level (or your own level if they're more than 10 levels above you), and precise location on the chat channel. The more accurate the information, the easier it will be for the Mounted Patrol to respond. It is recommended that you get a mod that displays your coordinate position. Titan Panel and Cosmos are two such mods. Another useful mod is ICPVP. It allows you to send your report directly to a private channel of your choice. (Gokouzwar uses this to send his sightings to the mountedpatrol channel.) Before you release your spirit to the graveyard you should note your position or send a report of names and levels and your coordinate position or sub-zone name.
HOW TO BE A PART OF IT ALL:
If you're a high-level character interested in world PvP, you should monitor the mountedpatrol channel, as well as the WorldDefense channel, for reports of the horde attacking cities.
DISPATCHING FROM LONG DISTANCES:
If you notice cities that are under attack a good method of gaining information is by using the /who feature built into the game. Type /who and the location of the city. For example, if Refuge Point is under attack you could use "/who arathi highlands" and the game will list everyone in that area. Find yourself a high- or mid-level character in the list and ask him if he knows what's going on out there and if he can report to you on the Horde locations and levels. It's also a good idea to ask if more help is required. If not then you know the situation is under control. Just keep an eye on it because sometimes the player on the scene THINKS things are fine only to find out that more buddies show up to help.
The next step you can take is to ask all higher-level alliance members in that area to assist and start gathering members for a raid party. This can all be done prior to you even leaving the area you're currently in. Keep in mind that if you start a group like this you'll need to designate someone to report to. Either assume the position yourself or ask someone in the area to be a point of contact. If they're asking for help they generally will be glad for you to send people to them. You don't even have to leave the area you're in. Setting up a group can assist with operations and get people organized to run off the horde. Gokouzwar has run Kalimdor operations from the Eastern Kingdoms and the other way around. It can be very easy to monitor the chat information.
WHAT ELSE WE DO:
Another nice activity is to help the lowbies in the area with the tougher quests in that zone. I generally have a macro that spams the /1 channel that Mounted Patrol is in the area and available to assist. As I run around the area looking for horde I'll monitor the status of the players I pass by. If they're having trouble I'll stop and assist unless they request no assistance. (They USUALLY don't do that unless they're dorks)
CONCLUSION
Mounted Patrol is setup so anyone from any guild at anytime can decide they want to help with world PvP operations. This makes for a good reputation as someone who helps out others and will generally get you into circles you would otherwise not be invited into.
As more info becomes available I'll add to this. --GokouZWAR 22:56, 30 May 2006 (PDT)
