Overview of PVP

PVP Information
World of warcraft has areas where you can fight with levels comparable to your own based on the area you choose. There are 3 different battlefields at this time in the game. Warsong Gulch, Arathi Basin, and Alterac Valley. Each has it's own gameplay and level requirements to play.
Battlefields:
Warsong Gulch (WSG) Level 10 - 60
WSG is a capture the flag setup. Players from the alliance and horde must capture the enemy flag 3 times. Played exactly like Tribes 2 only no jet-packs and no skiing. You must take the enemy flag from the enemy and return it to your flag.
Level play:
10 - 19
20 - 29
30 - 39
40 - 49
50 - 59
60 (only)
Arathi Basin (AB) Level 20 - 60
AB is a capture and hold setup. Both sides must gain 2000 resource points by holding a base. The more bases you hold, the faster you gain resources. Bases that are neutral or contested do not gain resources for either side. To capture a base simply walk up to the capture flag (generally glows the color of the team that has control over it (red or blue) or white if it's contested) and right click (use) the flag. A channelling bar will appear at the bottom of your screen and the flag will gain a "glow" animation around it to show that it's being flipped. The process takes 10 seconds. Once you have completed the process the flag burns off and you replace your banner on the stand.
Level play:
20 - 29
30 - 39
40 - 49
50 - 59
60 (only)
Alterac Valley (AV) level 51 - 60
AV is probably the most complex game play of all the battle fields. They recently changed the game to be much faster, however if played right by two very good teams these battles can last several hours or days. This game is closer to Capture and Hold, but it has elements of my T2 mod "Great Tribal War" in the sense that you can capture spawn points to help progress the battle. There are mines to capture to help you do some quests. There are graveyards (GYs) that are your spawn points. If your team controls the GY then you can spawn there. You will default to the nearest controlled GY to your death point. You can still go and get your corpse but you don't have to as with any battle field you'll auto-spawn at the GY within 30 seconds or less of a death. The primary objective is to kill the opposing side's NPC general. He is guarded by several warmasters that will attack you if you enter the area where he is at. Each side has a fully working base with NPC guards and several towers that will attack players nearby.
See the link above for a detailed description of what you can do in the game and some basic tactics.
