Introduction
TeamSpeak 2 is a voice communications (voice comms) tool for real time voice chat over the internet. This is sometimes referred to as voice over IP. It is designed for gamers to be able to chat with each other while playing a game. This takes team based games to a whole new level as you are able to quickly issue orders and report incidents without having to stop and type your message.
- This guide will cover:
- Getting the TeamSpeak software.
- Setting up and connecting to a server.
- Setting up your channel and registering with the server.
This guide is not meant to be a complete guide to using TeamSpeak. If you want more information, then look at the FAQ section of the TeamSpeak website: www.goteamspeak.com
Getting the software
Visit www.goteamspeak.com and follow the download link on the far right of the page. Assuming you are running a version of Microsoft Windows, you will want the TS2 Client (Win) link. TeamSpeak is completely freeware, so there is nothing to pay. Once the software has downloaded, run the executable and follow the installation instructions. Once it is installed it might be useful to place a shortcut on the desktop (if it hasn't already) or even on the Quick Launch bar. This is entirely up to you.

Adjust these settings accordingly, pretty self explanatory. *note with my SB audigy 2 it seems for some reason if I have this set for the sound driver to Direct Sound in games like Tribes 2 I get in game sound errors where the games sound provider wants to resort back to direct 3d (where I'm using EAX as my provider.) any changes click the apply tab.
Self Explanatory. any changes click the apply tab.
Self Explanatory. Broadband users really don't need to touch this. If any changes are made click the apply tab.
Enter Your Nickname under the Default guest nickname. Process Priority should be set on High. any changes click the apply tab.
Now you are ready to connect to the server highlight connection and click on quick connect. Fill out accordingly
Once you are successfully connected to the server it is common place to do a "mic check" to make sure things are in running order.you can switch channels by left clicking on a channel name and right clicking switch to channel. One thing you may notice is the (U) by your nickname, this means that you are currently unregistered with the server. To register with the server simply find a server admin, a registered (R) member who is a server admin (SA). After he allows you to register, the register with server selection pictured to the right will become available. When you fill this out, Password will be your personal password for your registered name, anything you want. Please remember your registered name and registered password spelling have to be exact. If you loose your personal password only a few admin's have the ability to retrieve this password for you so don't loose it.
| |
After registration, highlight Connection and click on Connect. Under the local address tab, right click on server and select Add Server. Fill out accordingly similar to the Picture:
When done, click on the lower connect tab and reconnect to the server, this time as registered. |
